From
September 10-16, 2008 people of faith across the country will be
mobilizing their communities to ask their local, state and national
candidates what they will do to address the pressing issues of poverty
and opportunity in America in their first 100 days in office.
In
communities across the country, people of faith will be calling and
writing the candidates, holding forums to discuss these issues with
civic and political leadership, engaging in interfaith community
service to aid those in need in their communities, and otherwise
highlighting the need for increased leadership on these issues.
What will YOU do?
I would ask for your prayers for the success of a local forum on poverty being organized in Litchfield Ct on September 13th. Local persons who work on affordable housing and social service in the area will speak on our towns poverty environent and efforts to fight proverty in our town. The candidates runing for state office to represent our town will be invited to speak also. With God's Grace something positive will come of this.

I am new to your site, and am interested in the activities. As Executive Director of a not for profit (New York and Atlanta, Georgia) I recognize the impact of poverty on faith and the impact of faith on poverty. However, my organization: realhiphopcares.org is hosting its first interfaith community meeting in July'09. And all are welcome. We are now in a state, where morals are interfering in "how we choose to survive" the struggle is overwhelming to most, but, the real problem is that faith has left the family and the community, let us all work together to bring it back.
